Hiking Santa Ana Volcano tour starts: 08:30 am
From: San Salvador City
Tour Duration: 9 hrs
Ready for an awesome experience? This tour is an exciting adventure to the crater of Ilamatepec Volcano, a scenic hidden gem. With a height of 2384 meters above sea level, the Santa Ana Volcano, best known as the Ilamatepec, is the highest volcano and bulkier of the coastal range in the region. It is also the third highest point in El Salvador. Its geological history dates back about 2 million years, with irregular eruptions, such is the case Ilamatepec demonstrated its strength in 2005, with an eruption that destroyed vegetation, villages and crops. The road to the crater is narrow and has a medium difficulty.
During the tour, you will find a series of sightseeing points made of wood, from which you can admire the beauty of the natural landscape that surround the Lake and Volcanoes Complex. At the periphery of the crater, the winds are strong and you will be enveloped in clouds. From there you can see the emerald green lagoon inside the volcano. Also, you will have the opportunity to see a beautiful panorama of Lake Coatepeque, Volcano Izalco, Cerro Verde and the Pacific Ocean. The view is simply breathaking!
